First things first…. I am SOOOOOO happy with the band we are currently building. Lots more shows to come with this group of awesome musicians. I LOVE playing with a band, and these guys are sure to impress…stay posted for shows!

Secondly, “Leaning On The Grace of God” will soon be headed to radio and I am speechless about it!!! Such a great song written by me and my bestie Debbie Pascarella…. Make sure you’re on the mailing list to be notified when it hits airwaves so that you can request it!

On the songwriting front, independent country music artist Nick Nicholson has recorded our song “Fall In Love Again” and is including it on his next album release!!! Keep an eye on this guy….he’s great!

All in all a busy few months…restructure, writing, rehearsals, new band…..I’m exhausted but it will all be worth it in the end!!!

Stacey Blood is counting it off this summer with the anticipated release of his second album Millennium Blues. What to expect? The Morrison-ish, Beatlesque, Cash driven artist captures a mélange of rock, blues, and out-of-the-box style that he skillfully melds together for a sound that is very much his own. A fan of 60’s and 70’s rock, Blood awakens the nostalgic mind and sets the path for a timeless adventure with him.
Blood spent his influential years as a top-rated radio personality in the Dallas, San Luis Obispo and Fresno markets. This helped develop his multidimensional style. It’s certain to say that music was always part of Blood’s life. His father, Bobby Blood, was a session player and recorded/performed with renowned artists such as Chuck Berry, The Everly Brothers, The Doors, Steppenwolf, and David Bowie.
So fast forward into the millennium. Stacey Blood’s debut album Reversed Space was released in 2005 on Astral Records. In 2007, he released his single Sunday School which is peppered in psychedelia. With the final touches currently in progress on Millennium Blues, I was able to catch up with Blood and discuss the upcoming album, life in Nashville, and the fight against brown recluses…yes, it’s a trip of an interview!

Rock N’ Write – How’s your world in Nashville tonight?

Stacey Blood -A little quieter. Had thunderstorms today, sounded like the Battle of Bastogne.

Rock N’ Write – I think I have to Google that battle. It sounds intense.

Stacey Blood – Very intense, so they say.

Rock N’ Write – I’m gonna go on blind faith with that one. Shall we start with what year you were born?

Stacey Blood – Good call, blind faith was really the only way out of that one. I was born in 1976 in Fort Worth, TX. Spirit of ’76 man. That makes me a dragon on the Chinese birth chart, ya know.

Rock N’ Write – I happen to be a fan of the 70′s…and the Chinese calendar. I’m 1974 which makes me a tiger. Couple that with being a Leo…watch out people! So are you musically inspired by the 70′s?

Stacey Blood – A tiger and a leo? Didn’t Napoleon Dynamite call that a “Liger”? Yeah, of course the 70′s was a great time for music. Almost as great as the 60′s but both decades are the pinnacle of 20th and 21st century music….

The NEW single will be coming out towards the end of the summer and I CAN NOT WAIT! Also plans are in the works to get me out and about all over the country soon. 1st stop is Farmington, MO…thanks to some good friends and Froggy 96 I will be opening for Josh Thompson at the St. Francois County Fair this year!!! “Yeah, my mind was set on Nashville and heading east, but when I found out about my father’s stroke, I pretty much just took a left at Utah.” says David

Ending up in Gillette, Wyoming to be with family, he immediately tried to find work in the music community to soothe his soul, which was a very small market in a very a small town. Taking on any job he could, and literally working four jobs to make ends meet with his first child in the mix was a very challenging time.  It may have seemed a little stifling to his dream back then, but that’s when he met Michael Elmore. Landing a guitar instructor job at a local music store, Michael signed up for lessons and from that moment on, magic started unfolding.

For the next few years, David taught Michael (who already had some years of formal piano training under his belt) the art of guitar, music theory, and the craft of songwriting. Excelling faster than any other student and literally becoming his own, David and Michael’s father discussed the idea of entering him the Midwest Guitar Wars competition. Taking 1st place was an excitement being that he was one of the youngest contestants and that there were so many. This prompted him into relocating to Los Angeles to study under the legendary Frank Gimbale in Pasadena at the Los Angeles Music Acadamy LAMA.

During this time, Michael kept entering guitar wars in Hollywood and eventually landing 2nd place in Southern California. Forging original bands in the Hollywood scene, and becoming intermingled and embraced with mainstream acts, Michael felt the need to get a sense of what America was really about, and became curious as to why we were even at war. This intense feeling made him stop shop and enlist in the military. Serving many years as a marine, and nearly being killed several times in duty defending our country, Michael has finally come home with honor. Please raise your glass to salute his album “Bullets and Bombshells” as the diary of his life and the melodic memoirs of his time spent at war.
